| | Dear Friends, Warm greetings from the Irrawaddy team! In this time of crisis in Myanmar (Burma), The Irrawaddy remains focused on its mission: to provide you with timely news, analysis, images and editorials. The Irrawaddy, an independent Myanmar media outlet, has continued to work offshore since the February 2021 coup, following which our office in Yangon was raided and staff members were detained and threatened. We are proud of our team's resilience, passion and commitment to relocate and rebuild; not a day goes by that they are not working to keep our readership inside and outside of Myanmar informed. Myanmar's continuing struggle for a federal and democratic future is directly linked to the existence of independent media. Without democracy and freedom, we cannot survive. The generals who illegally run the country must not prevail. We at The Irrawaddy would like to express our deep gratitude for your kind support of our efforts to continue practicing independent journalism—work that has become all the more important since the Myanmar military seized power. That support is indispensable. We want to ask you to be a part of The Irrawaddy and help us achieve our aspirations by making a year-end gift. Your continued support helps us maintain our unrivaled ability to report what's happening in Myanmar and to make a real impact. Thank you – and happy holidays! Editorial Team | | | | | | |
