| | Dear Friends, Warm greetings from the Irrawaddy team! This is a challenging time in Myanmar, with military rule now well into its third year and the regime's attempts to hold on to power through a campaign of terror against the whole nation showing no signs of diminishing. Daily air strikes, shelling barrages and arson attacks—mostly targeting civilians in acts that amount to war crimes—are at unprecedented levels. In this time of crisis, The Irrawaddy remains focused on its mission to provide you with timely news from the ground, as well as analysis and commentary to help you understand the developing situation in the country and the murky involvement of neighboring countries in Myanmar issues—not to mention images and editorials. Since the February 2021 coup, The Irrawaddy, an independent Myanmar media outlet, has been through many challenges. Following the junta's raid on our Yangon office, its detention of and threats to staff members and the revocation of our operating license, we have continued to work offshore, simply in order to continue doing our job: to expose the regime's atrocities against its own people and to hold accountable those who have committed crimes. We are proud of our team's resilience, passion and commitment to relocate and rebuild; not a day goes by that they are not working to keep our readership inside and outside of Myanmar informed about how the democratic norms we all cherish are deteriorating under military rule. Myanmar's continuing struggle for a federal and democratic future is directly linked to the existence of independent media, including The Irrawaddy, and the sustainability of their core operations is vital. In this challenging time, we ask for your kind support to help us continue practicing independent journalism, as Myanmar's media sector is now badly underfunded, putting journalists' physical and job-related security at risk. That support is indispensable. Your continued assistance helps us maintain our unrivaled ability to report what's happening in Myanmar and to make a real impact. Thank you.
