Most pre-election activity so far has been centered in southern and eastern Shan, with the regime's proxy USDP positioned as front-runner and opposition parties banned.
Increasingly desperate for conscripts, the regime has been less than scrupulous in conscripting underage soldiers, often by getting government departments to forge their papers.
